Flooring originated in the late 1960s shortly after Keith and Marge Chadderdon moved to North Idaho and Keith began peddling carpet from the trunk of his car. After seven or eight years of traveling the Northwest, from Alaska and Washington State to the plains of Montana and Wyoming, the Chadderdons opened a small store on a desolate strip of highway north of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. Called Carpet Center, the business flourished as the city grew to surround the store and Highway 95 developed as the state's major north-south thoroughfare. .
